Peter Herrle Prof. Dr. Peter Herrle, professional background in sociology, architecture and urban planning. He has been a consultant to bilateral and international development agencies in various fields including housing, decentralization, participative planning, urban management and urban planning in many countries mainly in Asia and Africa. Since 1995 he is professor for international urbanism and head of the Habitat Unit at Faculty VI, Berlin University of Technology, since 2002 he is Advisory Professor at the Tongji University Shanghai. Astrid Ley Dr. Astrid Ley is the leading researcher with a special focus on housing for the urban poor in South Africa. She is currently working as a senior researcher at HABITAT UNIT with a special focus on international urbanism, informal urban development, housing policies, civil society and governance.
